Good Shepherd Awards

At Good Shepherd students are selected by their class teacher to receive weekly award. These awards are presented at Friday morning assembly 9am in the outdoor assembly area. Names of students receiving awards are published in our weekly newsletter.

Heart of God awards

The Heart of God awards support the School Wide Positive Behaviour program which reinforces the 4 key school rules. Children receive a Heart of God award after receiving a certain number of green bands. These awards are presented in the school hall, following a prayer celebration. There are usually 2-3 Heart of God presentations each term. Parents are also notified in writing if their child is to receive an award. Please refer to the Positive School Wide Behaviour Page for more information.

Sporting awards

From time to time students will receive sporting awards for either school teams or individual events. The leadership member at morning assembly will present and/or acknowledge this achievement accordingly.

Sports carnival awards

Following a sports carnival (swimming, cross-country, track and field) ribbons are presented for age groups and events for 1st-4th place. These are provided starting with under 8 age group (generally Year 2 students). Parents are notified (via the app or newsletter) the day the ribbons will be presented to the students. These are generally presented at morning assembly in the outdoor assembly area. If a child participates at a North Gungahlin representative event this achievement is also acknowledged and celebrated.

Academic / leadership awards

At different times throughout the school year children may receive recognition for achievement through their participation and involvement in external programs or be selected for an award by their class teachers or other members of the school community. This may include organisations such as St Vincent De Paul, Fred Hollows foundation, ACT Legislative Assembly, Rotary, Rostrum Public Speaking etc. Parents/carers will be notified and the award is presented at a suitable occasion to celebrate this achievement.
