Dear parents and caregivers
Alcohol-free policy for the upcoming school Christmas Carols
As we prepare for the festive season, we are eagerly looking forward to our upcoming Christmas Carols — a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community and celebrate the year. In light of this event, we wish to remind parents and caregivers of the school’s policy regarding alcohol.
To support a positive and family-friendly atmosphere, the school will not permit the consumption or BYO (Bring Your Own) alcohol at this event. This decision aligns with our commitment to promoting healthy living and setting a strong example for our students. As role models in their lives, it is important that we collectively demonstrate behaviours that reinforce the values of responsibility, respect, and well-being.
Additionally, it is a priority to ensure that school events remain safe and appropriate for all. Catholic Education policy prohibits staff members from consuming alcohol in the presence of students, ensuring professional conduct at all times.
We also note that our school’s playing fields are public land and we are mindful of maintaining the school’s positive reputation within the broader community. Allowing alcohol consumption on public property may raise concerns and impact how our school is perceived. We are confident that by respecting these guidelines, we can host an enjoyable, inclusive, and family-focused celebration for everyone.
We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us uphold these standards for the benefit of all students, families, and staff. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
We look forward to celebrating the festive season with you and your family at the Christmas Carols.
Kinder orientation 2025
Thank you to all staff and parents involved in the Kinder orientation mornings held this week. It was wonderful to meet our newest enrolments into Good Shepherd!
Warm regards
Trazel
Next Friday (Week 7) is Crazy Sock Day! Students are encouraged to wear their brightest, craziest, most colourful, or coolest socks. They will wear full school uniform with their awesome socks, and bring a gold coin donation.
Donations will go to Mission Australia who, through their integrated services, help people find safe and affordable housing, support disadvantage families, and assist people with mental illness or disability. They believe a person's circumstances shouldn't define their future, and that given the right support, everyone can reach their full potential. Mission Australia is inspired by Jesus and their purpose is to meet people's need and to spread the knowledge of the love of God.
Can't wait to see everyone in their sensational socks and gold coins next Friday!
It is that wonderful time of year again when we unite to support each other and those in most need. It is time for our annual Vinnies Christmas Hamper Appeal.
Every student will have been given a hamper slip by their teacher to purchase one grocery item to place into their class Christmas hamper. We will have our hampers ready to donate to St Vincent de Paul Gungahlin Conference at the end of Week 8 so they can pass them on to families in our community, spreading love and joy this Christmas season.
Together we are the Heart of God in Amaroo!
As it says in Proverbs: “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay them for their deeds.” (1 Timothy 6:18)
Let us pray together:
Dear loving and generous Lord
May we always strive to be selfless, loving, and charitable just as was Jesus’ message in the Gospel of Matthew (25:35-40). May we embrace the Holy Spirit actively at work in us and through us to bring God to others and to see Jesus in every person we meet, treating them with the dignity and respect they deserve, offering them compassion and kindness whenever they need.

Nut free policy and birthday treats
Nut-free
Conscious of many allergies, particularly to nuts, we endeavour to keep our school environment nut-free. We ask that students not bring peanut butter or hazelnut spread sandwiches to school, or other products containing nuts (such as some museli bars). Students should not share food.
Birthday treats
If parents wish to send a treat to share with classmates, a small wrapped lolly or chocolate (such as a chuppa chup or plain freddo frog) is permitted. Please do not send a party bag full of treats. Some pre-packed bags from retail stores can contain chocolates with nuts.
