Dear parents and carers,
This past fortnight has been full of vibrant community spirit and successful events organised by our dedicated Community Council! Our Colour Run last week was a colourful triumph, bringing smiles to everyone involved. It was wonderful to see our students so enthusiastic as they participated in this lively event, and we’re grateful for the support of all families who made it possible. Students were thrilled to participate in enhancing our school’s culture.
Yesterday’s special snack session was another highlight, allowing students to enjoy a little extra treat while supporting our community initiatives. These events continue to bring us closer together and foster a strong sense of belonging, and we thank everyone who volunteered or contributed. We hope to continue the snack service next Wednesday as well.
Thank you once again to all who have contributed to these recent events and to the everyday life of our school. The sense of community we share is truly invaluable, and we are so grateful for your support and cooperation.
Uniform reminder: Good Shepherd standards
We’d like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers about our Good Shepherd uniform standards. Recently, we’ve noticed some breaches in uniform requirements such as incorrect socks, school shoes, and jewellery. As we approach the end of the school year, we understand that purchasing new leather, polishable black school shoes can be a challenge mid-term; however, we expect this will be prioritised in 2025. For any students with broken shoes, particularly those with exposed toes or loose soles, we ask that replacements be made promptly for safety reasons. It’s essential for WHS that students’ shoes are structurally sound to prevent any accidents.
Car park safety and speed zones
We also wish to remind all parents and carers of the importance of adhering to speed zones in the streets surrounding our school and within our car parks. Our car parking processes remain the same, and we’re grateful for your ongoing commitment to these protocols including parking as per the guidelines. Your efforts in maintaining safe and respectful practices ensure that our children can always move about safely.
Warm regards
Trazel and the Good Shepherd staff
We are being challenged to reflect on our lives and to self-assess where we are at, both in our lives and within our faith journey. Are we currently doing all we can to be the best versions of ourselves or are we too busy, complacent, indifferent, unaware or distracted?
Life is busy, hetic, demanding even. It can be difficult to move past the chaos and demands to focus on what is key – our relationship with Jesus and our commitment to his mission for salvation.
Each day we should be asking ourselves if we have done all we can and been all we can be in this day. We should also challenge ourselves to determine if we have any pruning of unhealthy attitudes or habits or growing of healthy, faith-filled attitudes and habits to do. Some days will be tougher than others and we won’t always hit the target, that’s ok. We need to give ourselves a break and some self-care, then try again to be our best selves.
Here is a quote and a prayer that may help us contemplate our progress and success in being all that we can for Jesus.
“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” Etienne de Grellet Quaker missionary

Colour Run
We had so much fun at the Colour Run last Friday! We surpassed our fundraising goal and coloured the oval. A big thank you to our teachers for getting so involved and to our incredible volunteer team who are not all pictured in this photo. The event wouldn't have gone ahead without any of you. Information will soon be posted on Compass about how you can collect your fundraising prizes.
Community Council Meeting
Our final Community Council meeting for 2024 is being held on Thursday 14 November, from 6pm in the staff room. All members of the school community are welcome to attend. Please register your interest at gscouncil1@gmail.com.
