The dignity of the human person and wearing our school uniform correctly
At Good Shepherd, we believe in the dignity of every individual, and one way we reflect this is through the way we present ourselves in our uniform. Wearing the correct school uniform helps foster a sense of respect, unity, and belonging within our community. As the weather warms, we are happy to accommodate adjustments for comfort while maintaining this important standard. Students may wear navy shorts as part of the winter uniform, girls may wear tunics without tights, and both boys and girls may wear shorts for Sport.
To ensure everyone is prepared for Term 4, our uniform shop will be open for any new purchases. Opening hours are 8:45am - 9:30am on the following days:
- Even weeks: Wednesdays
- Odd weeks: Fridays
Many of our students have grown over the winter, and it’s important that they wear properly fitting uniforms to ensure they feel comfortable and focused while learning.
Lastly, we remind families that coloured hair braids, shoes, and extreme haircuts do not align with our uniform policy. Standing out by not wearing the correct uniform can undermine the dignity we strive to uphold for all students.
We appreciate your support in ensuring that all students represent our school with pride and respect.
Good wishes,
Trazel
It has been a truly blessed and special time to be able to be part of the faith journeys of our Year 3 students who made their First Reconciliation this week.
Underlying each of the Sacrament of Reconciliation services is the resounding message for all of us that we are each unique and precious. We are also totally and unconditionally loved by God. Finally, that no matter our thoughts, choices and behaviour, should we see our faults and seek God’s forgiveness, he will welcome us with open arms and we will receive the forgiveness, mercy and healing that God is so ready to give us!
The Catholic community offers us the Sacrament of Reconciliation as a way of naming and acknowledging our need for God’s love and forgiveness. What a blessing it is to be able to unburden your heart, mind, and soul to God, to be forgiven and start to heal.
Our key take-away from this week’s Sacrament of Reconciliation services is that God loves us unconditionally, his mercy is never-ending, and his forgiveness is always ever near.
Please pray to God your own Act of Contrition - Prayer of Sorrow:
O my God, I am sorry
that I have sinned against you,
because you are so good
and with your help
I will not sin again.
Finally, a blessing for each of you:
Dear Jesus,
May God bless each of you as you continue to strive to make good choices in your relationships.
May Jesus’ love surround you and guide you in all you do.
We make our prayer in Jesus' name.
All: Amen

They are aiming to collect evidence through a survey from a broad sample of parents and carers of children attending Catholic schools in Australia.
The survey will be open until the end of October. Results will be used to report to the Federal Government and Catholic Education.
