Dear parents and carers
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Mrs. Ahern and the students from our Defence families who joined me yesterday at the Australian War Memorial for the Battle for Australia commemoration. Their presence made this significant event even more meaningful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share this important moment in our history with them.
The Battle for Australia marks a series of conflicts during World War II that took place between 1942 and 1945. These battles were critical in defending Australia from the threat of invasion, particularly after the fall of Singapore and the bombings of Darwin. It was a time when our nation faced immense challenges, and the courage and resilience of our service members and civilians alike were put to the test.
Attending the commemoration at the War Memorial allowed us to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to protect our country. It also served as a poignant reminder of the strength and unity that have defined Australia in times of adversity. I am especially proud of our students, whose respectful participation honors the legacy of those who fought for our freedom.
Once again, thank you to Mrs. Ahern and our Defence families for your support and dedication. Together, we continue to uphold the values and memories that are so vital to our nation's history.
Warm regards,
Trazel
Year 5 students and teachers celebrated Mass with Fr Troy this week. Their religious focus was on Jesus’ clear message that we all need to follow the New Commandment to love one another. The way to do that is through charity. The act of charity is a choice people freely make to care for the wellbeing of others. By carrying out acts of charity our love for God and each other is increased.
This special occasion reminds us of the profound impact that acts of kindness and generosity can have on our lives, and the lives of those around us.
We also look to the virtue of charity as an inspiring example of unconditional love, compassion, and service.
Let us reflect on the immense impact that acts of charity and love can have. May the spirit of kindness and generosity continue to guide us all. Let us, like many before us, ‘never see a need without doing something about it.’
Let us prayer together:
God of might, giver of every good gift,
put into our hearts the love of your name,
so that, by deepening our sense of reverence,
you may nurture in us what is good
and, by your watchful care,
keep safe what you have nurtured.
God of mercy, you call us to live lives of love and charity,
reflecting your compassion in our actions.
May our hearts be ignited with a passion for justice and service.
Amen
Let us go out this week and make a difference in the lives of others through our own loving acts of charity.
