Dear parents and carers,
As we approach the latter part of 2024, we kindly ask that you notify the school as soon as possible if your family has any intention of leaving Good Shepherd in 2025. The earlier we receive this information, the better we can prepare and plan for the upcoming school year, ensuring a smooth transition for all students.
Clubs at Good Shepherd
We are thrilled to see so many children participating in our clubs this term! It's wonderful to witness the enthusiasm and engagement as students explore their interests and develop new skills. Attached to this newsletter is a snapshot of our playground and club roster for your convenience. Please remember, all children are welcome to join our clubs, and we encourage them to get involved.
Father's Day
Parents please note, due to unforseen circumstances we have moved our Father's Day gathering to breakfast instead of afterschool games. We will have our famous Good Shepherd Father's Day gift bags available for purchase as usual. Information will be out shortly about purchasing gift bags for all our amazing dads!
Teaching and Learning at Good Shepherd
Our commitment to providing high-quality education remains steadfast. This week, our dedicated staff have been meeting to closely review our curriculum materials. This ongoing process ensures that we continue to deliver exceptional support to our students, helping them thrive academically and personally.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Warm regards

Jesus tells us that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there with them. He also asked us to share together as a community through a fellowship meal regularly and to do so in memory of him. The Church readings for this week focused on the fact that Catholics believe that every time they receive communion, they are receiving Jesus Himself. Through communion, God’s life and Grace we received at Baptism, along with our Charisms from the Holy Spirit are nourished and strengthened. We stay in relationship with and stay connected to God everytime we receive Him during Mass.
This is how our spiritual life is nourished and strengthened, through prayer, encounter, discipleship, mission and through receving the Eucharist. “In the Eucharist, we deepen our relationship with Jesus by becoming more and more like him. God gives himself to us, and we try to shap our lives into a loving girt for God, It is the gift of love with sacrfice.” (Celebrating the Lectionary pp. 194-5)
By living a spirit filled life that is in communion with Jesus and actively working towards God’s saving mission we oursleves will be raised and granted enternal life.
“The Church teaches that the berad and wine are christ’s Body and Blood. Transubstantiation is the million-dollar word for the event, but it’s mostly helpful for theologians. Long before the invention of that word, table fellowship was shared among Christians. They understood that eating and drinking in memory of Jesus made them bearers of his life. They know that sharing his supper also meant they shared his saving mission in the world. They believed htat taking part I this meal was a comitment, a covenant (promise/commitment) in flesh ad blood. This was serious busineess. To claim Jesus in thies way meant that they might die for him.
Most of us in the receiving line at communion time will not be asked to die for Christ. But every one of us IS being asked to live for Christ. Are we in the right line, or aren’t we?” (www.gpbs.com.au)
“O God, holy wisdom, we open the windows of our hearts to you and the life you vie. Help us to breathe in deeply of your Spirit. Feed us with the bread of life; inspire us with your awesome presence so that we might more fully become the people you have called us to be. Amen.” (sourced from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pGYeYJ5Yl4)
As a school community, we are committed to drawing closer to God and receiving his love and grace through prayer, particularly through Christian Meditation. Last term we had a Christian Meditation expert from our Catholic Education Office visit with staff and students over a number of days to revitalise Christian Meditation in our classrooms. Last week we shared with you the benefits that Christian Meditation can have on the whole person by positively impacting social, emotional, cognitive and wellbeing elements of our lives.
Please take the time to read the handout to learn more about meditation.
