Good News

St Carlo Acutis was canonised on 7 September 2025 and became the world’s first millennial saint.

As a teenager, Saint Carlo became terminally ill with leukaemia. His faith and love of God were strong. His complete belief in, and love for, the Eucharist and Jesus’ very real presence within was astounding and inspiring. He loved to pray the Rosary, and he attended Mass as often as possible. Such was his desire and determination to be closer to God that he inspired and motivated family members and other people to receive Communion daily.

St Carlo’s deep and unwavering faith underpinned all he prayed, said and did. He inspired many people to turn to God and become Catholic. His love and concern for the poor was strong. He would interact regularly and compassionately with people who were homeless, bringing home-cooking to them and spending time talking with them. He also stood up for the rights and wellbeing of others.

Being a millennial, St Carlo was also an adept computer coder. He used his technological savviness to educate people about Eucharistic miracles in the hope that others would see, as evidenced by science, that Jesus really is present in the Eucharist, and as a result, they would turn to God.

St Carlo did not become influenced or deterred by peer pressure. He firmly, faithfully and with conviction, shared and defended Jesus, God and the Catholic Church's teaching.

The Bread of Life doesn’t just satisfy — it transforms.

On Friday, many of our Year 4 students will be participating in their First Holy Communion Retreat Day in preparation for receiving their First Holy Communion this Sunday at Mass. They have been focusing on the Catholic belief that in every piece of bread that is blessed and broken in the Eucharist at Mass, Jesus is saying to them, “I am with you” in his real presence in the Eucharist.

Wow, what a time to be receiving Jesus for the first time through this blessed Sacrament, right when Carlo Acutis, whose life’s Mission was to bring knowledge of the gift of God’s presence in the Eucharist to others!

As Catholic believers, they have been learning about how God can feed people’s souls with love, grace, mercy and hope so that they, in turn, can cast their nets out deep with kindness and be the Heart of God in Amaroo through their words and actions.

We wish them well with blessings and prayers for this weekend’s important event in their faith journeys.

Let us pray together:

Gracious God, fill our hearts with gratitude for the gift of your son Jesus.

May we be brought closer to Jesus through the gift of Communion we receive when we pray together and celebrate Eucharist with the Mass in faith and hope that we will be led to fullness of love and life with God.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Next Friday is Global Schools and Footy Fever Day. Students are invited to cast their nets out deep with kindness and help our Buddy Global School – St Pius Academy in Kiisi County, Kenya. They have reached out and asked for our help to finish their classrooms so they can do their lessons. They need to install glass windows and doors and cement the floors. They would love to paint their classrooms so they are fun and engaging.

So let’s have fun, raise money, and help our buddy school in need all at once!

All students are invited to come to school either wearing their favourite footy team’s colours or their favourite footy shirt or jersey.

The founder and Manager of Global Schools Partners, Simon Carroll will be visiting our school to share an update with us about our buddy school.
